The interns will use games, demonstrations, and discussions to share information about natural resources, the environment, and careers in the Forest Service; to introduce concepts such as natural-resource management, conservation, and ecology; and to listen to and encourage young people to express their thoughts, ideas, and concerns about their environment.
Accompanying the interns will be scientists and support staff from the station's office, laboratories and experimental forests throughout the south -- Blacksburg, VA; Research Triangle Park, Raleigh, and Asheville, NC; Clemson and Charleston, SC; Athens, GA; Huntsville and Auburn AL; Stoneville, Starkville and Saucer, MS; Hot Springs, AR; Pineville and New Orleans, LA; Nacogdoches, TX.
The two teams of interns have a full schedule this summer. To inquire about their availability for a session next summer, please contact Rod Kindlund
