Current Research

Dr. Chizmar conducts research with the purpose of sharing knowledge and potential solutions with landowners, natural resource professionals, the forestry community, scientists and practitioners, and other key stakeholders. Her ultimate goal is to perform collaborative research that is relevant, targeted, and impactful to a diverse audience. Her past and current research areas include programs and policies related to natural resource and forest management such as cost-share and property tax programs, agroforestry practices, and regional economic contribution analysis.

Research Interests

Dr. Chizmar’s current role with the US Forest Service, Southern Research Station is to explore the economics of forest-based disturbances and forest products markets and trade, which includes:
  • Forest carbon offsets and markets;
  • Impacts of emerging forest products markets; and
  • Contributions of activities related to forestry and urban and community forestry to local and regional economies.
